When the .NET universal top-level domain was initially set up in 1985, along with the first domain name extensions on the Internet, it was supposed to be used by Internet Service Providers or infrastructure establishments. Because there were no special rules about the usage of the top-level extension, though, .NET domains were purchased and used for various purposes and by a great number of people. This extension is a great substitute of .COM, especially if the wanted domain with the latter domain extension is not free for registration.

You can easily correct the WHOIS contact information of the domain through your Control Panel, or, if you don’t want this information to be visible at all, you can get a Whois Privacy Protection service, so no one will be able to check your actual contact details.
