Custom Error Pages
Take a plunge into website error pages. Learn when they show up and why you should make your individual custom error pages.
If you have browsed many websites, you've probably encountered some error message from time to time. An error can take place when the hosting server can't process a request (Error 400), if you must log in to see some content and you haven't done so (Error 401), if you are not permitted to access some page (Error 403) or when a link leads to a file that is not on the hosting server (Error 404). Encountering this sort of messages may sometimes be frustrating because the pages don't have anything in common with the actual site. That’s why some web hosting providers permit you to apply your own error pages which will match the style of your own site and which can have any content which you'd like - info why the error has occurred, a suggestion how to handle it or even some witty comment. This type of feature can help you keep the visitor on the site irrespective of the error or the reason for it.

Custom Error Pages in Web Hosting
You will be able to set up custom made error pages for each of your domains or subdomains. The feature is supported by all web hosting package which we provide, so as soon as you log in to your Hepsia CP and visit the Hosted Domains section, you can easily click on the Edit button for a domain/subdomain and in the pop-up that will be displayed, you could pick the type of error page which should show up - a default one from our system, a standard Apache web server page or a personalized one. For the last mentioned alternative, you will need to specify the URL to the page, so if you use personalized pages, you need to upload the files in your hosting account first. One other way is to use an .htaccess file located inside the domain or subdomain folder with a line for every error type. The exact syntax can be located in our Knowledge Base, so that you can use this function even if you do not have any previous experience.
- Custom Error Pages in Semi-dedicated Servers
Incorporating your personal pages for each of the 4 error types to any website hosted inside a semi-dedicated server account with us will be very uncomplicated and won't take more than several mouse clicks. When you upload the files to your account, you can navigate to the Hosted Domains section of your Hepsia Control Panel and edit any of the domains and subdomains listed there via an intuitive interface with drop-down navigation. You could select what page should display for every error type. Your options are a default Apache server page or a page from our system, and customized pages. In case you choose the abovementioned option, you have to type in the link to every page in your account, then save the change. The link or the kind of page that shows up in case a user encounters an error can be changed whenever you want. In case you are more experienced, you can use an .htaccess file to set customized error pages as well, as opposed to using our integrated generator instrument, and if you choose this option, the file must be positioned inside the root directory of a particular domain or subdomain. - Custom Error Pages in Semi-dedicated Servers
