Each and every notebook or desktop or web server is run by an Operating System - the low-level program that interacts with the computer hardware, including peripherals such as a mouse and a printer, and any applications that are present on the system. Any program input using a command line or a Graphical User Interface (GUI) is processed by sending an Application Program Interface (API) request to the Operating System. On a server, every single app runs within the parameters defined by the OS as well - priority, physical memory, processing time, etcetera. This is valid for both standard Internet site scripts and server-side software like a media server. In case a virtual server is created on a physical one, there can be two independent Operating Systems, referred to as guest OS and host OS, so you can set up a different software environment on a single machine.
Multiple OS in VPS Servers
We offer you as many as three different Linux releases for the Operating System of our VPS servers - Debian, CentOS and Ubuntu. These are some of the most stable and reliable OSs out there and we provide all three rather than only 1 since we realize that you may want to install some software with specific requirements for the Operating System it will run on. The latter is because each of the three Operating Systems has a vast support community behind it and there're different software packages you can install on the server. Your OS choice will also determine exactly what hosting Control Panel can be installed on the VPS if you would like to use one and that is why we offer several Control Panels as well. In the event you decide that you want another OS, our tech support team can quickly wipe the current one and install the one that you would like. We also offer an optional service to have the OS on your VPS updated weekly.
Multiple OS in Dedicated Servers
In case you decide to obtain one of our dedicated servers, you will find three Operating Systems on the order page because we want to give you a larger choice with regard to the system environment on the machine as different apps can have certain requirements. CentOS, Ubuntu and Debian include different modules developed by their large support communities, so you can select any of these OSs and take advantage of a stable and safe hosting service. Based on your choice, you will also have different Control Panels to choose from. Needless to say, we can always change the Operating System if the one you have selected at first doesn't meet the requirements of the software which you intend to run. We can also upgrade your OS regularly to keep it as risk-free as possible using our Managed Services upgrade package.
