The NS, or Name Server records of a domain, show which servers deal with the Domain Name System (DNS) records for it. Setting the name servers of a specific hosting provider for your domain address is the simplest way to point it to their system and all its sub-records will be taken care of on their end. This includes A (the IP address of the server/website), MX (mail server), TXT (free text), SRV (services), CNAME (forwarding), etcetera, so if you wish to change some of these records, you will be able to do it by using their system. In other words, the NS records of a domain address reveal the DNS servers that are authoritative for it, so when you try to open a web address, the DNS servers are contacted to obtain the DNS records of the domain you are trying to reach. In this way the website you'll see is going to be retrieved from the proper location. The name servers normally have a prefix “ns” or “dns” and every single domain has at least 2 NS records. There is no practical difference between the two prefixes, so which one a website hosting provider is going to use depends only on their preference.
NS Records in Web Hosting
When you use a web hosting service from our us and you register a new domain address in the account or transfer an existing one from a different provider, you'll be able to control its NS records easily through the Hepsia web hosting CP, which comes with all shared accounts. You'll be able to change the current name servers or enter additional ones for a single domain name or even for a number of domain addresses at once with several clicks. This is done using the feature-rich Domain Manager tool that is a part of Hepsia and the user-friendly interface is going to make it easy to manage your domain name even if it's the first one you've ever registered. It requires simply a mouse click to see what name servers a domain address uses at the moment or if they're the correct ones to direct a domain address to the hosting space on our end and with only a few clicks more you are going to even be able to register private name servers for any of the domain addresses that you own. For the latter option you can use the IP addresses of any company that you'd like the new NS records to direct to.
NS Records in Semi-dedicated Servers
The name servers for each domain which is registered through us may be changed with no more than a few clicks from the innovative, albeit easy-to-use Hepsia CP that comes with all semi-dedicated server plans. It's just as effortless to view the current NS records for a specific domain name and to check if they are the ones that are necessary for the domain address to be directed to your hosting account. The Domain Manager tool, which is a part of Hepsia, is user-friendly enough to allow you to control any domain name with ease even if you have never dealt with such matters before. If you would like, you can also register private name servers ns1.your-domain.com and ns2.your-domain.com and use them not only for the domain address under which they are created, but also for any other domain address that you might want to host inside the very same account. This option is very beneficial when you have customers of your own and you want their sites to use your own name servers rather than our default ones. The service is 100 % free.
